McCannics has been delivering construction, manufacturing, maintenance, and repair services to the agricultural and timber sectors in Gisborne for over 40 years. With over 60 employees and modern facilities, we’re now hiring a qualified Fitter Welder to support our growing engineering department.
About the Role:
This is a full-time, permanent position with guaranteed 40-hour weeks. As a Fitter Welder, you’ll be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and machinery across a wide range of hands-on projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
Weld using MIG, TIG, arc, and other techniques
Fit and align metal components with precision
Fabricate and modify metal parts as required
Maintain and repair equipment and machinery
Ensure quality control and adherence to safety protocols
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fitter/welder role
Strong understanding of welding techniques and fabrication processes
Ability to read and interpret technical plans
High attention to detail and precision
Great problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
Team player who can also work independently
